Today (July 1st) Fuji Film held an opening ceremony for the photo exhibition "Fuji Film photo festival in Tokyo Midtown" in their headquarters' gallery called "Fuji Film Square" that is going to open on the 2nd of July.

This photo festival is the largest of its kind in Japan with photographs of 10,000 people on display. The overall theme for the exhibition is "my precious memory", but there are also a lot of nature themed pictures with titles such as "the greenery I want to protect" or "the water I want to protect" and similar.

Horikita Maki, who is also showcasing one of her own photographs attended the preview party as well.
"I really love to take pictures. It was very difficult to select only one picture for this exhibition. When I was in Berlin this May, I once was completely surrounded by the sky except of right above me, that's what I took a picture of." she said.
"To be able to include one (of my pictures) in this exhibition and to let others sympathy with it makes me very happy."

From other sources I now found out that Maki actually has more than one photo at this exhibition (see picture below). In total she lets us see 19 of her own pictures at this exhibition (if you are in Tokyo, Japan that is).

On the 29th the public radio recording of "SCHOOL OF LOCK!" took place at Tokyo FM's SpainZaka studio. It was the first time that Horikita Maki (19) and the girls of chatmonchy appeared together.

"It was my wish to appear at the SpainZaka studio this year, I'm very happy. I'm nervous about getting watched by my fans." Maki said. chatmonchy provided the song "Kaze Fukeba Koi" (Love Blows in the Wind) for Maki's "Sea Breeze" CM who also sponsored this event. "I've created this song after I saw Maki-chan running," vocalist Hashimoto Eriko (24) reveals to the delight of Maki. The show will be broadcasted on July 15th.

On the 24th, Horikita Maki and Matsuda Shouta, both having a role in NHK's long-running historical drama "Atsu-hime" visited the graves of the personalities they play, the married couple of the Tokugawa's Kazunomiya and Iemochi at Tokyo Shibakouen's Zojo-ji temple.

Maki will appear in the drama starting with Aug. 17th. "A historic person. Nobody might know the real truth, but I will perform with my utmost effort." It's the first full-blown historic drama for her. When she first looked into the mirror and saw herself with the wig and white make-up, "I thought it was a different person" <laughs>. "It first was difficult to move with the wig and the costume, but now I've grown accustomed to it." She's been on the set for filming since late May.

"I preferred to meet (the grave of Iemochi) before the start of the drama. I asked him to watch over me," Shouta says with a meek expression. The first time he saw himself in the shape of the shogun: "First I was very uneasy and embarrassed to look into the mirror. Once we started with the drama, I left reality and got soaked into the role. Thanks to the outward appearance it happened quite natural." It's also the first time for him to have a topknot hairdo.

Look forward to their appearance in August.
